Deborah is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker. She is also the Program Director of the Horses Easing Life’s Pain (HELP) program at CFCC. She received her Master of Social Work degree and Bachelor of Applied Science with emphasis in Addiction Counseling from Washburn University. Her passion is to combine her love for people with her love of horses. In 2008, she became certified with EAGALA to provide equine assisted psychotherapy. In 2011, she created the HELP program at CFCC. The program offers services to a wide variety of people, aged 9-99, with all kinds of mental health challenges and from all walks of life. But Deborah’s heart is to serve those who are survivors of trauma. Whether that is of childhood abuse, domestic violence, or a veteran of war. She provides individual, couples, family, and group counseling. She currently volunteers with the Leavenworth VA to provide the HELP program to veterans in Northeast Kansas. Deborah has a strong faith in God and His ability to empower people to find their way in life. As with all CFCC staff, she prays for clients, and often with them if they so desire. One of her favorite scripture passages is Ephesians 3:20-21, “To You, O Lord, who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to You be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.”

When she is not working, you can find her swinging on her porch swing, walking her dogs, or grooming a horse.
